Demographic Transition and Economic Opportunity - The Case of Jordan
This paper was commissioned by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Jordan division and is a study of the demographic opportunities and challenges facing Jordan as the baby boom generation grows up and changes the age structure of the population. The paper shows the importance of demography, and in particular age structure, to a country’s economy and suggests policy actions that will enable Jordan’s government to capture the “demographic dividend”.
