The roadmap for delivering the 2030 Agenda targets for peaceful, just and inclusive societies
"The Roadmap for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies clarifies the scale of the transformation that will be required to deliver the SDG16+ targets, while setting out a practical agenda for action. The roadmap will inform national and local sustainable development strategies and plans, while helping regional and global actors work together for peace, justice and inclusion."
The roadmap was launched at the UNGA in September 2017. It is part of CIC's Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies programme.
Pathways for Peace - Inclusive approaches to preventing violent conflict
"The resurgence of violent conflict in recent years has caused immense human suffering, at enormous social and economic cost. Violent conflicts today have become complex and protracted, involving more non-state groups and regional and international actors, often linked to global challenges from climate change to transnational organized crime. It is increasingly recognized as an obstacle to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
This has given impetus for policy makers at all levels – from local to global – to focus on preventing violent conflict more effectively. Grounded in a shared commitment to this agenda, Pathways for Peace: Inclusive Approaches to Preventing Violent Conflict is a joint United Nations and World Bank study that looks at how development processes can better interact with diplomacy and mediation, security and other tools to prevent conflict from becoming violent."
David Steven contributed to this report as a Senior External Adviser, and the report also links to the Roadmap for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies.
Presentation – Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, A Call to Action to Change our World
"Our priority is to provide a platform for member states and other stakeholders to develop a roadmap for the implementation of SDG16 and related targets. We will work with partners to build political momentum for delivery, increase coherence across sectors, and deliver results at a scale that is in line with Agenda 2030’s ambitions"
This presentation summarises the Roadmap for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies.
Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies
"The new agenda recognizes the need to build peaceful, just and inclusive societies that provide equal access to justice and that are based on respect for human rights (including the right to development), on effective rule of law and good governance at all levels and on transparent, effective and accountable institutions."
This brief outlines the establishment of the Pathfinders initiative and the next steps they are taking to develop a roadmap for delivery of the 2030 Agenda commitment to increasing peace, justice and inclusion.
